DWP Improves Caller Experience By Dropping Vivaldi Four Seasons Hold Music

For over 14 years, millions of people across the UK have had to endure the torture of listening to a 30-second clip of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons Spring on loop when waiting to speak to the Department of Work and Pensions.

After listening to caller feedback and testing other music options they’ve now banished the repetitive 30-second loop forever.

“We had some feedback that the Vivaldi clip caused anxiety for claimants and in particular had an impact on autistic callers,” said a DWP spokesperson.

Personally, it’s been a talking for many years, as a common response when I explain that I help contact centres improve their customer experience is...

“You should be working with HMRC/DWP, their on hold music is awful”

Well it looks like they’ve taken the first steps to improve the caller experience by banishing the 30 second loop of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons Spring movement they’ve been using for 14 years.

Now all they’ve got to do is reduce the average hold time and the nation will be just a little bit happier.
